English Summer
Courses with STD Training.
We aim to provide an excellent residential
English Language learning experience, comprising language tuition and
cultural visits for non-native speaking students in the UK.

The
Course
The main focus of these courses is the development of listening and speaking skills through communicative activities; It is designed to help students practice all aspects of English Language. A typical timetable includes language development and grammar work, skills classes (reading, writing, speaking and listening) and classes designed to help students with important aspects of general English such as pronunciation and oral fluency. Students also learn about various aspects of British life and culture through a programme of class time and excursions. Who Are These Courses For?
The
English for General Purposes courses are suitable for adults from
low-intermediate to advanced level who need English; and anyone interested in
developing their knowledge of English language and British culture. Courses are not normally suitable for
people under the age of 18. The
Timetable Every
morning there are two lessons, starting at 08:45, with a 15-minute break
between them. One lesson will concentrate on communication skills,
listening, and vocabulary development and pronunciation skills. The other
will focus more on reading and writing. Social
Activities Excursions
are arranged for each afternoon and on each
Saturday & Sunday of the course. Day excursions are half-day trips,
departing after lunch, and generally returning at around 6:00 pm. Typical
afternoon excursions include nature hikes, visiting museums and places of
interest, and leisure activities (Kayaking,
horse riding, go-karting etc).
Day trips (weekend excursions) last for the whole day, and typically
include visits to major towns and cities). This summer we shall visit
London, Manchester, Blackpool, Chester, Rhyl and Alton Towers. We
additionally hold many evening events such as bingo nights; pool
tournaments, movie night, Karaoke etc and we always welcome students'
suggestions. For the "graduation" day of the course we also have
a barbeque and disco night. Please note that some events are not included
in the course fee, so there will be an additional charge for those
interested. Tests,
Reports & Certificates There are no tests for the course,
but you will be judged on your coursework. Attendance certificates and
detailed reports are issued at the end. Teaching Methods & Assessment Teaching methods include
presentation of new information, individual and group coursework. Language
practice in real/simulated settings, Assessment will consist of assignment
and course work, and may also include the application of skills in real
life settings. Accommodation This course will be held in the Tanralt Centre in North Wales, Each course we hold is in a different setting each time, and includes different excursions. Students sleep in single-sex dormitories, usually in bunk-beds. We provide the bedding materials. The Tanralt centre accommodates 30 students, and is a converted Welsh Chapel. It has separate Male and Female bathrooms, with multiple hand basins, toilets and single-person showers in each. There is heating and hot water at all times. The centre also has a games room with a pool table, table tennis and "foosball". Course Fees Summer 2004:

must be paid in full before June 30th. You are welcome to pay
in separate installments (see below); but a one-off payment of fees saves
you £50.00 STG. ALL FEES ARE IN POUNDS STERLING. One-Off Payment Plan
